DICKO HAILS FIGHTING SPIRIT

LEICESTER boss Stewart Dickson hailed his side’s fighting spirit as they went down narrowly at Glasgow.

The Watling JCB Lions missed out on grabbing an away point by the smallest of margins, losing 48-41 at Ashfield Stadium.

Dicko’s team produced an excellent display though to push the Scots all the way in a thrilling contest.

He admitted: “It was a great meeting, best team won. It takes two teams to create a great meeting, we thought Bomber got third in heat 15, the ref didn’t.

“Hopefully hopefully we get the break the next time, we live to fight another day. Congratulations to Glasgow they deserved the win.”

Now the JCB Lions take on the Tigers on their home circuit on Saturday night in another blockbuster clash of the Championship top two.

Glasgow got clear in the early stages as both Ryan Douglas and Joe Lawlor were excluded in Heat 3 and then Paul Starke and Claus Vissing grabbed a 5-1 over Scott Nicholls in Heat 5.

But the Lions came roaring back. A big maximum from Mountain and Perks in Heat 8 hauled the visitors back into the clash.

Then Douglas and Mountain grabbed another advantage in Heat 12 to further narrow the gap.

However, Glasgow’s power-packed Craig Cook and Rasmus Jensen pairing did the damage in Heats 13 and 15 to hang on for the home win.

GLASGOW 48: Craig Cook 15, Rasmus Jensen 12, Paul Starke 9+1, Claus Vissing 8+2, Kyle Bickley 4, James Sarjeant 0, Connor Bailey 0.
LEICESTER 41: Ryan Douglas 11+1, Chris Harris 10, Connor Mountain 9+2, Ellis Perks 5+4, Scott Nicholls 5, Joe Lawlor 1+1.
